Why TENCEL Lyocell Works as Loungewear
Most activewear fabrics are optimized for performance output: wicking, compression, or abrasion resistance. TENCEL Lyocell is different. Its fiber structure absorbs moisture into the fiber rather than pulling it across the surface, which produces a dry, soft hand feel even against skin that has been in movement. This makes TENCEL an unusually good choice for garments that transition from activity to rest. Bellissima's loungewear sets use the same 92% TENCEL Lyocell and 8% spandex composition across leggings, shorts, and bras, so the fabric behavior is consistent whether the wearer is finishing a pilates session, cooling down, or settling into a recovery hour. Research on TENCEL Lyocell's thermal regulation suggests the fiber moderates body temperature more effectively than polyester at equivalent fabric weights (Öner et al., 2013), which reduces the overheated feeling that often follows synthetic activewear post-exercise.
From Studio to Sofa Without Changing
The Sempre Leggings have a 27.5-inch inseam and a high-waisted silhouette that does not dig or fold when seated. The waistband is a V-shaped back cut that removes the straight-across elastic that pinches during extended sitting or lying. The diamond crotch gusset eliminates seam pressure at the inner thigh, which matters for comfort in rest positions as much as in movement. The Sempre Shorts with their 6-inch inseam suit warm-weather recovery and indoor rest. The Sempre Twist Bra and Sempre Halter Bra both feature removable EVA foam pads, so the bra transitions to loungewear mode simply by removing the pads if preferred. All pieces are black, squat proof, and available in XS to XL.
What to Expect from the Fabric Over Time
TENCEL Lyocell is a cellulosic fiber, which means it responds to washing differently than synthetic fabrics. It softens with washing rather than pilling or developing a rough surface. The fiber holds dye well, so black remains deep rather than fading gray over repeat washes when care instructions are followed. The recommended wash is cold, gentle cycle, lay flat or low-heat tumble dry. Bellissima garments are not dry-clean-only. The 8% spandex component provides recovery after stretching, maintaining the legging's shape over time. The finished garment does not currently hold OEKO-TEX certification at the product level. The TENCEL Lyocell fiber is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified through Lenzing AG at the fiber level, confirming the absence of more than 100 substances of concern in the fiber itself.
Can Bellissima activewear be worn as loungewear?
Yes. The 92% TENCEL Lyocell composition produces a soft, temperature-regulating fabric that performs well in rest and recovery as much as in studio movement. The high-waisted non-pinching waistband and gusseted construction make the leggings and shorts comfortable for extended wear beyond a workout.
